MOVING STREAMS

Moving Streams è un progetto nomade/itinerante che interviene in luoghi fortemente caratterizzati dalla presenza dell’acqua.

Il progetto ha preso forma durante la residenza Cartografia sensibile 2023 /Cars Omegna, svoltasi sul lago d’Orta: un territorio fortemente caratterizzato dalla presenza industriale grazie alle numerose fonti idriche presenti sul territorio: Lagostina, Bialetti, Faro, Alessi sono solo alcune delle realtà industriali di quella zona, ormai quasi tutte delocalizzate o fallite, a causa delle dinamiche economiche globali.

Moving Streams si è poi spostato nel Nuovo Spazio di Casso, centro espositivo in prossimità della diga del Vajont, diga che generò la strage del 1963.

L'installazione è composta da scarti industriali metallici che, proprio come l’acqua, si modulano e adattano al territorio in cui si inseriscono. Gli elementi, nel sommarsi gli uni agli altri, rimandano ad un paesaggio urbanizzato lungo una sponda.

La luminosità opaca del materiale dalla memoria liquida (fusione), il carattere ludico dovuto al gioco di scala (miniatura) e l’ambiguità tra elemento naturale (foglia) e produzione industriale sono gli elementi che caratterizzano l’installazione.

Moving streams is an installation project focused on places characterized by the presences of water that points to the delicate and controversial question of how humans manage their relationship with their environment.

The installation consists of a host of metal elements similar to a leaf in shape and lightness that are characterized by the memory of the material’s liquid state before casting. Just like water, they adapt and fit to the territory in which they lay. Each one is different but similar to the others at the same time. These industrial aluminum scraps are smears created around a protruding part that agglomerate together to suggest an urbanized landscape along a river bank.

The matte brightness of a material recalling its liquidity, the play of scale (miniature), the ambiguity of the reference to nature, and industrial reproducibility all characterize the installation.

Moving streams is a nomadic/itinerant project that intervenes in places defined by the presence of water, the source of its inspiration, its driving force, and mirror of socio-cultural dynamics. 

The idea began forming during a residence on Lake Orta (Cartografia sensibile, 2022, Cars Omegna), and continued along the banks of the Vajont Stream near the dam of the same name (Dolomiti Contemporanee 2023).
